Experience the magic of the Christchurch night sky on a relaxing stargazing and night photography tour with a local guide.

Leave the city lights behind and travel to a carefully selected location where darker skies provide excellent conditions for viewing and photographing the stars. On a clear night, you may see thousands of stars, beautiful constellations and, depending on the season, time of night and conditions, the Milky Way stretching across the sky.

This experience is particularly suited to photography lovers. Whether you have a professional camera, a smartphone or simply want to enjoy the view, there are plenty of opportunities to capture beautiful night-sky photographs and memorable images of your time in New Zealand.

Your local guide will help you find suitable viewpoints and photography locations and can share interesting information about the night sky and the surrounding area. There is no need to be an astronomy expert — simply relax, enjoy the peaceful surroundings and look up at the stars.

The exact viewing location may vary depending on weather, cloud cover, visibility and local conditions. Stargazing is weather dependent, and clear skies provide the best opportunity to see the Milky Way and stars. If conditions change, your guide will discuss the available options with you.

This is a relaxed experience suitable for couples, families, friends and solo travellers looking for something different to do in Christchurch after dark.

Please dress warmly and bring a camera or smartphone if you would like to take photographs. Evening temperatures can be considerably cooler away from the city.

Join us for a peaceful night away from the city lights and discover the beauty of the New Zealand night sky.
